Tune in tonight for the Blue Plate Special 9pm EST
Tune in tonight as I talk to Terri Lynn Coop on the Blue Plate Special live podcast. I’ll be talking about Vorpal and all things comic book, but I also hope I get to talk mystery and thrill stuff with Terri.
Terri is a fantastic, award-winning mystery writer. We’ve known each other for some time. She also dabbles in collectibles and is one of the smartest, most passionate friends I have.
She was kind enough to drag me kicking and screaming onto her podcast despite my best efforts otherwise. Then she insisted, but only after I updated my Amazon author’s page. It needed updating. In any case, she’s still letting me play.
I grew up on Mickey Spillane. I’ve read ALL the Mike Hammer and did my own effort to bring him to life as a 12-year-old, mashing the gumshoe together with James Bond to make a spy named Lucifer Castaway. I brought Hammer into my work again in high school, creating a San Diego-based super hero named Corsair Stevens (none of that, fortunately, ever saw the light of day). The first novel I ever penned (in 1996) included a for-hire thief and hacker who also (you guessed it) had a Mike Hammer streak (I lost the manuscript in a move. I miss it).
And tonight, Terri and I will be talking about Vorpal, who is also infused with some parts Mike Hammer.
Whooooooooooooo boy. Plan: get hopped up on my weight in caffeine and sugar, and BRING THE ENERGY. So, you know, fun.
Psssst. I’m also going to Bogart the conversation with mystery talk and SHE HAS NO IDEA.
Get it? BOGART? Maltese Falcon? Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake?
[sigh] Fine …
I hope you’ll tune in tonight at 9 p.m. EST (03:00 EST) for the Blue Plate Special. If you’re out having a social life or watching The Last Jedi again during that time, don’t worry. Once the interview is archived, I’ll make it available on my media page.
